Want to give back?

VOLUNTEER SERVICES

Volunteer involvement is crucial at Van Duyn Center for Rehabilitation.

Van Duyn volunteers are made up of a diverse group of individuals who want to give back in a variety of ways. They are students, adults, church congregations, retirees, service organizations, corporate partners etcetera. Volunteering at Van Duyn offers these individuals the opportunity to be involved in their community, to learn new skills or to use those that they already have all while getting to know the amazing residents, each of whom has a story to tell.

Volunteers work closely with various departments throughout the facility.

Primarily, volunteers provide transport assistance for internal appointments in the Therapy Department, Clinic, Beauty Shop, Barber Shop, Resident Bank and Gift Shoppe or to outside medical appointments.

Volunteers help with scheduled activity programs such as Bingo, Memory Games and Manicures. They also accompany Activity Staff on off-site shopping trips to provide escorts for all.

  • Clerical volunteers assist our Business & Medical Records Office with mailings, phone coverage and filing. On Sundays, volunteers provide morning and afternoon transport assistance, making it possible for residents to attend church services in the 1st Floor Chapel.
  • Van Duyn volunteers are also crucial to staffing the Gift Shoppe. Shoppe duties include helping residents choose just the right gift, as well as marking and arranging new merchandise.
  • Volunteers often accompany our residents on outside medical appointments when immediate family members are not available.

The Volunteer office does its best to fit the volunteers with their areas of interest.
