Van Duyn Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing is happy to announce our participation in this year’s annual Upstate Services Group Charity Golf Tournament at the Windham Hill Country Club on Monday, August 20th. This year’s charity had a special place in our heart as donations went to Upstate Cancer Center honoring our colleague, Cathy Martinez, who had passed away in December of 2017.
Cathy Martinez was a vibrant and essential part of the Upstate Services Group and over saw 17 facilities as the Director of Risk Management. She was the glue of not only her own family, but also of the Upstate Services Group family. To those close to her, Cathy was known to be an avid golfer and biker – deservingly dubbed “Rocket” in her hometown due to her biking feats. She was a dedicated skier and ski coach at Windham Mountain Ski School, earning herself the title of “El Jefe” from her athletes.
To us, her colleagues at all Upstate Service Group facilities, she will always be known as the most organized and well oiled machine of an employee and most of all our comrade, amigo, and friend.
Cathy always put everyone else first and gave so much of herself to Upstate Services Group employees. For all that Cathy meant to us we are very proud to donate in honor of our friend over $50,000, knowing that through the donations her spirit and service to others will carry on.
